Ever looked into a store, facing so many beautiful planners, but unsure of which one to get?
That was always me, having the urge to buy all the planners but all I have is an empty wallet 🙁
Selecting the right planner is very important, suiting your personality and likings. With this, find the right planner for you! Ask yourself a few questions along the way, and I’m sure you will have a smoother planning journey!
Firstly, digital or paper planners? Consider the pros and cons, and pick the one suitable for you.
- Digital Planners
✓ Convenient and accessible (everyday, every night, everywhere)
✓ Send notifications and reminders (for some!)
✓ Can be made private by using passwords, thumbprints etc
✓ There are free platforms to use! (saves your wallet)
✗ Not personalised and it takes longer to select one that suits you (The one that suits you may be chargeable too)
✗ Can’t be used in school (for some), you may forget what has been assigned to you!
✗ Distracts your planning process with all the notifications popping up (goodbye to your planning 🙁 )
✗ Crashing of device may lead to deletion of your planning efforts
- Paper planners
✓ Fewer forms of distractions (no notifications, messages, nothing!)
✓ Reduces eye strain with reduced screen time
✓ More personalisation (Add your drawings, stickers, and your beautiful handwriting!)
✓ Straightforward and easy to use (especially for newbies)
✗ May be pricey at times
✗ You need stationery around to use it!
✗ If you add something wrongly, it is harder to remove
✗ Needs to be replaced from time to time
Next, by day, week or month?
Daily Planners
✓ More space for detailed breakdown of the day’s activities
✓ Matches the specific time to the task
✗ Usually bulkier
✗ Stressful if one feels restricted by the very detailed planning
Weekly planners
✓ Balances between daily and monthly planning (which may be too extreme for some)
✓ Good view of the week’s happenings
✗ Limited space of writing
✗ No segments for other aspects of your planning (eg. budget, meals etc)
Monthly planners
✓ Provides a good overview of your month
✓ Usually lighter and easier to bring around
✗ Harder to include details
✗ Only sufficient to include basic tasks for the day due to limited space
With answers to these two questions in mind, you can finally find the planner just for you!
